A reason to get out of bed every day of your life!

Probably not…

1.     If worship [aka, the Sunday gathered event] is the central organizing factor to being Jesus followers; if mission as the central organizing factor scares the heck out of you because some Constantinian idea of clergy is passe and the five offices of Ephesians 4 are to equip everyone to do the “ministry”, then I’m probably not the pastor for you.

2.     If you value new people as workers and pledge units who need your permission because you’ve got the pedigree, rather than as welcomed agents of change and companions along the Way, then I’m probably not the right pastor for you.

3.    If you’re looking for someone who does not share some of the same common weaknesses and foibles as you do, then I’m NOT the right pastor for you.

4.    If you think that being Open and Affirming is the final frontier of Christian witness, rather than “waging” the social war, then I’m probably not the right pastor for you.

5.    If mission is something that occurs only on a trip or once a month, or is reduced to information transfer of God’s truth, then I’m probably not the right pastor for you.

6.    If ministry is something that can be measured, quantified, strategized, programmed and categorized, then I’m NOT the right pastor for you.

7.     If the idea of creating art, poetry, and music alongside the poor and outcast shrinks your spirit rather than enlarging it, then I’m probably not the right pastor for you.

8.    If you’re searching for an expert to teach you how rather than a fellow student to learn with, then I’m probably not the right pastor for you.

9.    If the phrase “Life is messy—love it” fills you with more fear than trust, then I’m probably not the right pastor for you.

10.     If laughter and humor aren’t regular and highly-prized expressions of your life together, then I’m probably not the right pastor for you.

11.  If worship using the entire pallet of creative expression of adoration for the Living God is scary, because you may express yourself using the ancient, Orthodox, Catholic, Charismatic, ethnic or self originated methods, then I’m probably not the pastor for you.

12.  If hanging out with the people your mom scares, offends, or isn’t your passion, then I’m NOT the pastor for you.
